A Haiku Each Day

Sixty-two hundred and five Syllables a year.

Archive for Ocean

Tideline

Ripples on the sand
Marbling the endpapers
Of the ocean’s book.

Trophy

A lacquered sailfish
Over the yacht club entrance
Glass eyes stare seaward.

Storm

Gray clouds clash above
With the sound of crashing surf
Summer thunderstorm.

Backpost II, or, Why I Didn’t Post This Weekend

A blue screen of death
Vast as a tropical sea…
No haiku today.

I wrote this haiku on 2/19/2011 but, due to aforementioned BSOD, couldn’t post it then…

Twilight

Winter evening sky
Teal-green at the horizon
An inverted sea.

Panorama

Scenic overlook
Mountains fade into mountains
Rippled like the sea.

Pier

Underneath the pier
The breath of the sleeping sea…
Midnight’s washing tide.

Seaside

Slates of sea and sky
Hinge on a rose horizon
The first winter dawn.

For E.E. and H.G.

Pause to Reflect

A Pause to Reflect

Reflection in sand
The seagull’s tide-made mirror
Spring’s sun sets, serene.

and Scenic Sunday #118
Scenic Sunday

Sandpipers

Sanderlings scurry
The line between sea and shore
Stitched up by bird tracks.
