Backpost III

My apologies…
I watched too much basketball
To write a haiku.

March Madness

Two seconds to go
The ball arcs toward the basket
We all hold our breath.

I could have written a traditional holiday haiku about St. Patrick’s Day, but Temple just won their first NCAA tournament game since 2001. Go Owls!

Ball Game II

A basketball game
Sneakers squeak, balls bounce and soar
Swish! Nothing but net.

Ball Game

Orange basketball
Sinks past the hoop’s horizon
Like a setting sun.

The piñata stick
Used to break the crust of snow
Winter birthday bash.

For G.B.M., 9 years old.

After Buson II

Nose drips down my throat
Scrabble set missing the “Q”
Up late with a cold.
