Harbinger II

Listen – in the sky
Tiny jet planes twittering
Chimney swifts are here!

The Last of the Flock

Two Canada geese
That forswore the south this year
Breach the winter sky.

The Flock

Migration rest stop:
A flotilla of wild geese
Navigates the pond.

For One Shot Wednesday, Week 20

Wild Geese

Long necks lead the way
Compass needles pointing south
Winter in their wake.

After Basho

Quick as a surprise
The first migrating falcon
Over Cape May Point.

The Basho haiku that inspired me, loosely paraphrased:

Solitary hawk
The delight of finding it
At Irago Point.
