Christmas III

Not white, but silver….
Walking home in the pale light
Of a Christmas moon.

Predawn

Bright wings hovering
Early-rising hummingbird
Or late-night sphinx moth?

Circadian Rhythm

Night sinks in the west
The moon’s kohl-rimmed eye closes
For a long day’s sleep.

Mushrooms

Umbrellas for ants
Colorful mushrooms spring up
After a night’s rain.

Stille Nacht

Quiet winter night
Fallen snow muffles the sound
Of the falling snow.

Enlightened

Pallid city stars
Brighten as we climb the stairs
Up to the roof deck.

New Year’s Eve

Wearing red lipstick
To kiss the old year goodbye
New Year’s Eve party.

Cold Comfort

Cold glittering night
Since the refinery closed
We can see the stars.

First Frost

In the full moon’s light
Sparkling circles in the grass
Frost-fringed clover leaves.

Nighthawks

Courting nighthawks swoop
Wind singing through wing feathers
Summer night music.
